Every year, skiers and snowboarders from all over the world come to Zermatt to spend their holidays. Most often, tourists fly to Geneva airport or Milan Malpensa airport.
The route from Geneva to Zermatt consists of several parts and there are three options to overcome it. This is due to the fact that Zermatt is a car-free ski resort; you can only move around on its territory on foot or by special electric taxi. So you cannot get into your car in Geneva and drive to your hotel in Zermatt. You need to use the following options:
You cover the first part of the journey by car from Zermatt airport to Täsch station. This section of road is about 230 km long; It usually takes 3 - 3.5 hours to drive through it, depending on traffic jams.
More details: after leaving the airport you drive along the northern shore of Lake Geneva, the A1 autobahn, which after 58 km becomes the A9 autobahn (past the cities of Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux, Martigny, Sion). After 200 km, in a place called Visp, you get off and move another 30 km to Tesh.
The second part of the route from Täsch station to the parking lot in Zermatt takes place on a special shuttle train. The train journey lasts approximately 12 minutes.
The train runs every 20 minutes during the daytime (from 06:00 am to 22:00 pm). And also on weekdays every hour (from 22:00 to 00:30) and on weekends every hour, but all night (from 22:00 to 06:00).
Train ticket price: adult = 8.20 CHF; children = 4.10 CHF.
Alternatively, you can order a local taxi, which is licensed to transport passengers from Täsch to the Zermatt parking lot. Price 50 - 60 CHF per car.
The third part from the parking lot in Zermatt to your hotel can be walked, or you can order an electric taxi on the spot. It costs 20 - 40 CHF per car, depending on what part of Zermatt your hotel is located. Some hotels have their own electric taxis, so you can order them in advance at the reception.
Our company can provide you with cars with a special permit, allowing you to drive directly to the parking lot in Zermatt. There are not many such cars, so it is better to order them in advance. This transfer costs 50 CHF more.
The advantage is that you do not have to transfer your suitcases and skis from the car to the train and additionally wait for the train to arrive.
You can also get from the parking lot in Zermatt to the hotel on foot or by electric taxi.
Of course, the fastest and most comfortable way to get to Zermatt is by helicopter. You do not need to change transport and carry luggage to Täsch and the Zermatt parking lot. Flight time from Geneva to Zermatt is about 45 minutes. The cost of a one-way flight = 4870 CHF, when purchasing a round trip flight = 7,980 CHF.
However, we should not forget about the disadvantages of flying a helicopter. Apart from the obvious high cost, a significant disadvantage is flight cancellations due to bad weather. In the mountains this can happen at any time. Also, you will not be able to put a large number of suitcases and skis into the helicopter. If you have a lot of things you will need to book a transfer for your luggage, this costs a minimum of 600 CHF one way.

Transfer or taxi:
Usually, on average, a taxi transfer costs almost 2 times more than the cost of an individual transfer. For example, when traveling to Zermatt only to Tasch On a weekend, you will pay the taxi driver from 230 km * 3.8 = 874 CHF (economy class passenger). And for a personal transfer about 470 CHF.
It should be remembered that you never know the full cost of a taxi, as it varies and depends on several factors: time of day, amount of luggage and, in addition, you will pay for sports equipment.
If the company with which you came on vacation is quite crowded, you have a fairly large number of suitcases and equipment, and you want to get to Zermatt by van or minibus, then you will have great difficulty finding such a taxi at the airport. For the most part, these will be sedans, comfortably seating 2, maximum 3 people and up to 4 suitcases. The price of a van in a taxi is about 900-1000 CHF, and the price of a personal transfer by van is 550-600 CHF (Standard or Business class).
In addition, taxi drivers often only speak their native French, which can cause communication difficulties unless you speak it well. Our drivers, unlike taxi drivers, speak English.
Helicopter or transfer:
It's easy and quick to get from Geneva to Zermatt using a helicopter, it only takes 45 minutes. However, this type of transport also has its own nuances. Firstly, the cost. It will be about 4870 CHF (carriage of your luggage by car is additionally paid, since the helicopter does not accommodate large suitcases and sports equipment, which will cost another 550 CHF or more).
Secondly, your flight may be delayed or canceled due to weather conditions for several hours, which is quite common in the mountains.
Finding our driver will not be difficult upon arrival at Geneva airport. After you receive your luggage, look for it at the exit of the arrivals area with a sign. It will have your first or last name on it.
There may be a situation when the airport is full of passengers and greeters, so it is difficult to navigate and quickly find the right sign. This is why we inform you in advance of the driver’s contact: name and phone number and WhatsApp. Wi-Fi is absolutely free at Geneva Airport, but guests may not be able to access it. Our advice: connect to roaming on your mobile Internet for quick communication with the driver.
The driver receives information about possible delays to your flight from the application. He will definitely wait for you if you arrive a little later. However, if the flight arrival is delayed by several hours, we will try to find another driver.
Waiting for 1 hour after the flight lands is already included in the price of the private transfer. For time exceeding this limit, an additional fee is charged (depending on the class of the car and amounts to 50-80 CHF per hour). Therefore, we urge you to write when booking a transfer that you plan to leave the airport later. In this case, the driver can come to your exit and you will not have to pay extra.
From Monday to Friday, you can drive from Geneva Airport to the ski resort in approximately 3 - 3.5 hours. However, everything will depend on traffic jams.
On Saturday, a significant portion of tourists come and go, so congestion increases. The journey will take approximately 3.5 hours.
In the morning from Monday to Friday, when returning back to the airport, you can stand in traffic jams for a long time, due to the fact that many people go to work in Geneva. The transfer will last about 3.5 - 4 hours.
The holidays, both Christmas and school, are also not the best time for quick moves. Local residents with families tend to leave the cities and go on vacation to the mountains to admire the Alpine winter nature. The period from December 23, 2023 to January 2, 2024 is the Christmas holidays of the current winter season. Therefore, remember that travel on the first and last Saturdays will take 4 - 5 hours.
Of course, critical traffic jams between Geneva and Zermatt occur on the last Saturday of December and the first Saturday of January (this season December 30, 2023 and January 6, 2024). Many tourists go on vacation to the mountains at this time. Our advice is to avoid these dates for your trip, and if you still bought air tickets, it is better to try to leave at 05:00-06:00 in the morning or the next day, spending a quiet night in a hotel near Geneva airport. Otherwise, there is a risk of spending the whole day on the road: the move can take 6 hours!

Cases for transporting sports equipment usually have one of two options: “soft” and “hard” (on wheels).
The first option takes up less space; generally, such cases are slightly larger than the length of the sports equipment they transport (from 1.3 to 1.7 m). These covers can be placed quite easily in the trunk of both a passenger car and a van.
The second version of the covers takes up significantly more space in both dimensions: up to 210 cm in length and up to 40 cm in width, especially if equipped with wheels. Folding them even into a van is not an easy task; they are bulky and practically do not deform.
In addition to standard luggage and sports equipment, guests often have smaller luggage with them: bags, boot covers, backpacks, strollers and much more. Tourists often do not consider it necessary to inform us about this, but only provide information about standard large luggage. This can reduce the quality of the transfer, since when there is too much small luggage, it travels on the passengers' laps. We strongly recommend that you do not forget to write to us about your luggage in detail so that we can select a more acceptable and convenient car option.
A carefully selected car will help you get to your holiday destination comfortably from the airport. As a rule, it is selected based on two things: class and capacity.
Passenger car: sedan or crossover body type, the range of models is represented by Volkswagen Passat, Audi A4, BMW X3, Mercedes E and S class. We offer these cars for a small number of passengers who travel with minimal luggage: up to three passengers, up to three M or L suitcases, minimal hand luggage and sports equipment in a soft case.
Minibuses and vans such as the Mercedes Sprinter, depending on the model, have up to twenty passenger seats, have a luggage compartment to accommodate up to eighteen suitcases of different sizes and up to sixteen pieces of sports equipment (depending on the type of covers). However, if even this trunk volume was not enough, you can book a trailer.
Buses like the Mercedes Sprinter. It could carry 12-20 passengers, 14-18 suitcases of different sizes; skis / snowboards up to 12-16 pieces (depending on the types of covers). If you have a lot of suitcases and skis or they are large, you can also order a trailer.
We want to emphasize that each individual transfer is different from the other in terms of the number of passengers and luggage, so the selection of a car is individual and tailored to your needs.
The question of choosing a class and level of comfort always arises before guests and depends on their personal preferences and wallet.
The cheapest and easiest class in terms of comfort is Economy; in addition, it does not have much space. The range of models is represented by Ford Focus or Volkswagen Jetta cars and Fiat Scudo or Citroen Jumpy vans.
The second level of class is Comfort. Its price is higher, but there is more space in the cabin, and the interior trim is of better quality. The range of models is represented by Toyota Camry or Volkswagen Passat and Volkswagen Multivan and Renault Trafic vans.
The third level of car class is Business. The price and comfort of travel in cars of this class are even higher, the interior looks even nicer, and there is even more space in it. The range of models is represented by Mercedes E class and Mercedes Vito.
The fourth and highest level is Premium. Maximum comfort and quality of workmanship, details and functions for the most sophisticated and demanding guests. The line of models is represented by Mercedes S class cars and Mercedes V class van.

Milan Malpensa Airport is closest to Zermatt, however, it is not always convenient to travel from the Italian side, and in time, despite the distance, the trip takes longer. Therefore, tourists most often come to the resort through Geneva airport.

Zermatt is a magical combination of mountains, coniferous forests and a fabulous town, designed in the same style of a classic chalet. No wonder this resort is among the most luxurious resorts of The Best of the Alps.
For your convenience, there are a huge number of hotels and restaurants, a vibrant nightlife of clubs and discos. There is plenty to choose from and for every taste. It all starts with a view of the Matterhorn mountain, which you have seen more than once on the packaging of Toblerone chocolate. Then you can treat your taste buds to both fast food restaurants and Michelin-starred establishments. There is something to see for both lovers of ancient architecture and seekers of creepy places. And of course, all kinds of shops with exclusive things, fairs and festivals.
Zermatt has very good slopes with a large elevation difference from 1562 m to 3899 m. The total length of the tracks in this region is 360 kilometers and is divided into three main areas - Rothorn (3103 m), Gornergrat (3089 m), turning into Klein Matterhorn (3820 m) and Schwarzsee (2583 m). There are 17.5 km of blue pistes in Zermatt, 106 km of red pistes and 70.5 km of black pistes. The resort also has 38 km of yellow freeride trails. But despite the huge selection of slopes, it will not be easy for inexperienced skiers here. Nevertheless, in Zermatt, even the blue slopes are quite difficult and dangerous, and there are no student ones at all.
It is very convenient that the resort has a large selection of indoor lifts for more comfortable movement on cold days. Do not forget that this wonderful resort is ready to meet you in the summer! Photo tours and gastronomic journeys are always at your disposal. Of course, for all these advantages in Zermatt, the corresponding money is taken. Prices for housing and services here are not at all democratic, and do not change during the season.
The standard season in Zermatt starts on November 24th and closes on April 23rd. The price for one day of skiing at the resort for an adult will be 79 francs, for a child - 40. A six-day ski pass will cost 380 francs for adult athletes and 190 francs for the younger generation.
