The route from Milan Malpensa Airport to Swiss Zermatt along Lake Maggiore and through Stresa and Brig (motorway E62). The length of the path is about 170 km. The trip takes about 3,5 - 4 hours. If it snows in the mountains, then the car does not drive along the serpentine, but travels on a special Reno navetta Sempione train going to Naters. The train runs once an hour.
The Zermatt ski resort is a car-free zone. That's why a transfer or taxi from Milan does not go to Zermatt, but only to the village Täsch. In Täsch tourists get on the special train and travel to Zermatt about 6 km. Then walk to the hotel (if it is near the station) or get by the hotel's electric car.

The trip from Malpensa Airport to the ski resort of Zermatt is long and not easy. The best way to get to Zermatt is to book a private transfer in advance.
At Milan airport, at the exit from the arrivals area, our driver will meet you with a sign in his hands. We will send you the name and whatsapp of the driver in advance.
If you do not find a sign with your name in a large crowd of people meeting and tourists, you can call him or write to him (there is Wi-Fi at the airport). Unlike taxis, our drivers and operators speak English. You can pay for the transfer in advance by transfer to a bank account or via the link, or to the driver in cash or by bank card.
We do not charge extra money from customers for the transport of ski equipment or for child seats. You must list in detail in advance the amount of your luggage and its dimensions, as well as the presence of skis or snowboards. Then we will be able to pick up for you a car in which you will fit and comfortably reach the ski resort.
We provide cars for up to 4 passengers, vans for up to 7-8 passengers and buses for up to 20 pax.

You can pay for your transfer in few ways. Do not forget that several services are included in the cost of the trip.
Taxi is one of the most convenient ways to get to Zermatt from Milan Malpensa Airport. Leaving the airport building you will find many cars that will take you to the ski resort. You must remember that the taxi will only take you to the Täsch station. From there, by train or other special taxi, you can already get to Zermatt.
The cost of a taxi is higher than the price of a transfer - about 600 euro. The driver will charge you an additional fee for the fourth passenger, for a trip in the evening or at night. If you have a lot of suitcases or skis, you will have to pay even more money. There is also an additional charge for a child seat.
Italian taxi drivers do not know English or speak it very poorly. Consider this moment.

Zermatt is a wonderful city located in the beautiful Alps. The city can only be reached by public transport, as cars are prohibited there. Almost all transport in Zermatt is battery operated and almost completely silent. Zermatt is one of the most expensive ski resorts, so everything from hotels to restaurants will be expensive here.
If you want to save some money, stop in the nearby town of Täsch when you get to Zermatt by train. And do not expect that prices will be lower here in summer: Zermatt is popular not only among skiers, but also among hiking enthusiasts, and hiking trails in these places are simply enchanting!
During the ski season, this town comes alive and about 20,000 people fit in the 5-6 streets of Zermatt.
61 cable cars lift visitors to the top: 10 cabin, 11 gondola, 21 chairlifts and 9 rope tows. For beginners and children, there are 10 children's lifts. The total length of cable cars is 921 km, which are capable of carrying up to 92,894 passengers per hour. The ski resort is equipped with modern lifts on the Swiss and Italian sides. From Zermatt, the 8-person gondola lift takes guests the fastest way to the ski resort on the Klein Matterhorn.
The Gornergrat railway takes guests from Zermatt train station to Gornergrat in about 30 minutes. The third way to get to the resort is the Sunnegga underground funicular. The ski resort itself is dominated by modern chair lifts. They quickly take guests to great heights, but sometimes you have to queue due to the large number of tourists. In Breuil-Cervinia, the lifts rise directly from the village. There are mostly modern chair and gondola lifts. In Valtournenche, a gondola lift goes up to the ski resort.
The total length of the tracks is 322 km. The elevation difference is 2337 meters. The trail surface is maintained in excellent condition with the help of snow-compacting equipment. The snow cover on the tracks is maintained with the help of snow cannons. In total, the resort has 1275 snow cannons that cover 80% of the slopes. Ski slopes are illuminated. For beginners and children, a special training track is provided, equipped with a separate baby lift.
The Matterhorn ski paradise offers varied, well-maintained and fantastically long pistes. In addition to panoramic views of the stunning mountain scenery, the resort offers skiing throughout the year. The highest and biggest summer ski resort in the Alps is the Matterhorn Glacier, located on top of Theodul. In Zermatt, the slopes are distributed over the high Alpine terrain of Rothorn, Blauhorn, Sunnegga, Findeln, Stockhorn, Hochtelli, Gornergrat, Riffelberg and Riffelalp.
The slopes of the glacier extend from the Matterhorn Klein, above the Theodul glacier, to Trockenen Stad. The slopes lead through the Schwarzsee and Furi back to Zermatt. Most of them offer great views of the Matterhorn. On the Italian side, the slopes are distributed in high Alpine terrain at the Theodul Pass, Sime Bianche, Plan Maisons and Salette in the Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche regions. Most of the slopes lie above tree level. Only the slopes down to Zermatt, Aye, Furi, Stafel and Valtournenche lead through the forest. Thanks to the perfect slope maintenance and the breadth of the slopes, skiing here is truly unforgettable.
There is a separate rack railway line to Zermatt, departing from Brig. The only train that goes beyond Brig is the panoramic Ice Express, which runs via Andermatt and Chur to St. Moritz or Davos. In all other cases, you will have to travel to Zermatt with transfers and for quite a long time.
