My husband and I have long wanted to see Saint-Tropez. Recently I managed to make my plan come true. We went there for a day. Since we went not in the high season, the road one way took only 1 hour and 20 minutes. In August they say it takes about 3 hours because of traffic jams. We were taken by a ByCar driver in a Tesla S. A very comfortable and beautiful car, the driver was polite and experienced. We also really liked the price for the trip. 1) Advantages of an individual transfer

If you are planning a journey from Cannes to St Tropez, you’ll find several transportation options available. However, the most hassle-free and dependable choice is a private transfer with a professional driver. Here’s why it stands out.

Transfer or taxi: Taxis on this route are generally more expensive than private transfers, and the final fare can rise due to various surcharges: night or weekend rates, multiple passengers or bags, traffic delays, or extra requests like child seats. A transfer, on the other hand, has a fixed price known in advance. For example, a standard class private transfer from Cannes to St Tropez starts at 170€, while a taxi may cost from 190€ upwards depending on conditions.

Bus or transfer: There is no direct bus line between Cannes and St Tropez. The journey typically requires at least one change in Saint-Raphaël. It’s affordable (around 5–10€), but slow — the total trip can take 3 to 4 hours. Buses don’t run at night, and you’ll still need a taxi from the St Tropez terminal to your final destination. If you’re traveling with heavy luggage or small kids, or arriving late, this option may be impractical compared to a direct transfer.

Train or transfer: Taking the train involves several steps. First, a regional train from Cannes to Saint-Raphaël-Valescure, then a bus or taxi onward to St Tropez. While the train fare starts from 12€, total travel time may exceed 2.5 hours, especially in peak season. You’ll also need to factor in taxi fares to and from stations. With a transfer, you enjoy direct, uninterrupted travel to your destination — no carrying bags between connections or waiting for schedules.

Helicopter or transfer: A luxury alternative for the bold is a helicopter flight from Cannes to St Tropez, which takes about 20 minutes and costs around 1100€ per person. While fast, this mode of travel has its drawbacks: limited baggage allowance, weather-related cancellations, and the need to arrange ground transport from the helipad in St Tropez to your hotel. Helicopters are rarely used for everyday travel and are mostly popular for events or high-end VIP transfers.

2) Pickup at Cannes.

After landing at Cannes and collecting your luggage, proceed to the arrivals exit. Our driver will be waiting for you there with your name on a sign.

It may happen that due to the large concentration of passengers in the arrivals area, it will be difficult for you to find a driver. In this case, you just need to connect to the free wi-fi network that is available at the airport and write to the driver on WhatsApp. In any case, it is better to do this upon arrival, so that he knows that everything is according to plan. You tell us the flight number in advance, even when booking a transfer. This is necessary so that the driver has the opportunity to track its possible delay and arrive on time.

The transfer price already includes 1 hour of waiting after the plane lands. For additional time, as well as for stops during a trip to shops and restaurants, there will be an additional payment from 50€ to 90 € per hour, depending on the class of car. If you know that you may be delayed at the airport or are going to make stops along the way, warn the driver in advance to avoid additional costs and misunderstandings. If your plane is delayed by more than 1.5 hours, there is a possibility that you will be provided with another car (even of a different class), because the car you booked before may be send to another transfer.

3) Baggage information for transfer.

Information about what kind of luggage you take on a trip is very important, since the class and size of the car, and therefore the price, will depend on the size and quantity of luggage. If you provide incorrect information when booking, there is a risk that your luggage will not fit and you will have to order an additional taxi or carry your luggage by hand. This will obviously cost much more than if a vehicle of the appropriate size, such as a van, SUV or passenger car with a large SW trunk, was initially selected.

Suitcase sizes: Almost all suitcases can be divided into 4 groups by size. Please indicate their size when booking your transfer: S: height 48-53 cm; width 32-36 cm; thickness 20-24 cm M: height 58-63 cm; width 37-41 cm; thickness 23-27 cm L: height 65-70 cm; width 42-47 cm; thickness 26-30 cm XL: height 72-80 cm; width 48-54 cm; thickness 29-33 cm

Other types of luggage: In addition to ordinary suitcases, tourists often take with them hand luggage, bags, backpacks, strollers, sports equipment, and so on. You must inform us about this luggage when booking, as otherwise there is a risk that part of your luggage will have to be carried on your lap or in the aisle, which is, among other things, prohibited by the rules of passenger transportation.

4) Selecting a car for transfer Cannes to St Tropez.

The main parameters for choosing a car are its price and comfort. Both parameters depend on your personal preferences, as well as, of course, the number of passengers, size and amount of luggage. Based on capacity and class, cars can be divided into the following categories.

Car capacity: A car. Body type can be sedan or SUV. These are, for example, Kia Rio, VW Golf, Mitsubishi Outlander, BMW X3, Mercedes E and S class. This type of car can comfortably accommodate up to 3 passengers, up to 3 M or L size suitcases, and some hand luggage. Van or minibus. This could be Renault Trafic, Ford Tourneo, Hyundai H1, Mercedes V class or similar. This type of car comfortably accommodates: groups of up to 7-8 people; suitcases in quantities of up to 6-10 pieces, depending on their size and the size of the trunk of the vehicle. Bus. For example, such as Mercedes Sprinter. It is designed to transport groups of up to 20 people, its trunk can accommodate up to 16-18 suitcases of various sizes, hand luggage and sports equipment. Or large buses designed to carry 40-50 passengers (it is better to take these for long-distance transfers, since a large bus cannot travel along all the streets of small cities, so sometimes it is easier to travel on several minibuses). We emphasize that for each transfer the car is selected individually.

Car class: The class of the car depends on the individual wishes of tourists and is selected for each individual transfer, taking into account the requirements of passengers. Economy class. This is the class with the lowest price and optimal level of comfort. The salon is usually simple and quite small. Examples include Volkswagen Golf or Ford Focus cars. Vans Fiat Scudо or Hyundai H1. Comfort class. This class is more expensive than economy class due to more pleasant and expensive materials in the decoration and a more comfortable interior in general. Examples of comfort class passenger cars: Volkswagen Passat or Toyota Camry. Example of comfort class minibuses: Renault Trafic and Volkswagen Multivan. Business Class. The comfort class is more expensive and the level of comfort in it is even higher. The interior capacity is larger, and it is made of quite expensive materials. An example of a passenger comfort class is the Mercedes E-Class, and an example of a comfort class minibus is the Mercedes Vito. Premium class. The most comfortable, spacious and expensive interior for the most demanding passengers with comfortable seats and various functions that will make the trip very pleasant. The representative of the premium class passenger car is the Mercedes S-Class, and the premium minibus is the Mercedes V-Class.
