The ski resorts of Les Arcs are very popular among lovers of skiing and snowboarding. Mostly tourists prefer to get there from Geneva Airport, since it can be reached by a large number of different flights from a huge number of airports around the world.
There are three options for traveling from Geneva Airport to Les Arcs:
The fastest road is via the A41 toll motorway. You will travel 216 km along this route (depending on which Les Arcs station you go to) and spend at best 3 hours on it in winter.
After leaving Geneva airport you will drive 11 km to the border between Switzerland and France. It can take from 5 to 20 minutes to pass the border checkpoint, depending on the number of cars and whether they want to search your car. You then follow the A41 for 71 km before turning towards Chambery onto the A43. It will take you to the town of Chambery after about 56 km. You do not drive into it, but continue along the toll-free road N90.
Next you will enter the town of Moutiers after covering another 28 km, further the route will take you further along the N90. The next town you will see after 27 km is Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
The remaining path runs along a serpentine road from 14 to 22 km (depending on which of the four Les Arcs stations you want to go to). The road is unsafe and requires special attention and driving experience, and it is also necessary to have winter tires and chains.
If the toll highways A41 and A43 are closed due to an accident or there are very heavy traffic jams (for example on holidays), or if you want to enjoy the beauty of the Alpine nature, you can drive along Lake Annecy (on the right or left bank). This route is shorter than the first, its length is 172 km, but since you need to drive not on the autobahn, but on country roads, the travel time is also at least 3 hours.
Leave Geneva Airport and take the A41 motorway for approximately 38 km (you will also need to cross the Swiss-French border) and take the exit towards Annecy and its lake. You can choose its left or right bank to contemplate the beauty of this amazing place, filled with the majesty and incomparable colors of French nature. Leaving the lake behind you follow the D1508 and D1212 roads through Albertville. Having passed which you will return to the first route and follow the same places to Les Arcs.
An alternative option could be the route via Megève. Its length is 198 km and driving along it in the winter season takes at least 3.5 hours.
You can use it if the first two routes have very large traffic jams or if you need to stop at Megève along the way and leave part of the group. Otherwise, it is better not to take this road, as it is much longer.

Transfer from Geneva airport to Les Arcs is the best travel option. You can compare it with other ways to get to the ski resort:
Transfer or Taxi?
Undoubtedly, a taxi is a very convenient way of transportation. You leave Geneva airport and easily find many taxi cars ready to take you to Les Arcs.
However, do not forget about the main disadvantages of this option: Taxi drivers don't speak English well, so you need to be prepared to communicate with them (if you don't speak French). Prepare the hotel address in advance, or better yet, geolocation on Google maps. since often the addresses of hotels and chalets in the Alps are indicated without a building number, only the street.
A taxi is much more expensive than a transfer, about twice as expensive (below on this page you can find a calculation of the cost of a taxi trip).
Transfer or Bus?
If you are traveling to Les Arcs alone and without a lot of luggage (1 suitcase or backpack and no skis), then getting to the ski resort from Geneva airport by bus is quite normal. You will pay a little money and you will not be so tired of transfers and a long bus ride. But if you are traveling with three passengers and have a lot of luggage, then it is much more convenient to order a transfer.
The price for a bus per person is approximately 70 euros. But the bus goes to Bourg St Maurice, so you need to pay extra for a taxi from Bourg St Maurice, about 80 euros. At the same time, the transfer costs 320 euros and you do not need to transfer suitcases from one vehicle to another and your trip lasts 3 hours, not 4-4.5 by bus.
Transfer or Helicopter?
A helicopter will allow you to fly from Geneva airport to Les Arcs very quickly (in about 30 minutes), but the cost of this trip will be at least 1950 euros. Which is almost 4-5 times more expensive than using a transfer. If you have a lot of suitcases, most likely, in addition to the helicopter, you will have to order an additional car to transport your luggage (and this will add 300-400 euros).
The main disadvantage of a helicopter is that it can be canceled at any time. The weather in the mountains changes frequently and in case of heavy snow, you will have to urgently look for an alternative (order a transfer).
Transfer or Train?
Traveling by train is very inexpensive, about 35 euros for 1 person. But the train will only take you to Bourg St Maurice, so you will need to pay a taxi to Les Arcs for about 80-120 euros (depending on the number of people and luggage).
There is no direct train from Geneva airport to Bourg St Maurice, so you need to change trains in Geneva and Chambery. Trains depart from Geneva at 09:30 and 12:00, travel time to Bourg St Maurice is about 4 hours, plus a taxi ride from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours (depending on which station you go to and traffic jams).
Thus, if you are traveling together, don’t want to spend a lot of money, have a lot of free time and a lot of energy to carry suitcases and skis - then take the train. Otherwise, it is better to book a private transfer.
Transfer or Car Rental?
You can rent a car at Geneva airport and drive yourself to Les Arcs. For a day's rental you can spend about 70 euros per day. If you are traveling for a week and a passenger car is enough for you, it will be cheaper than a transfer: 500 euros for car rental and 640 euros for both transfers.
But if you rent a van for 6-8 passengers or you have a lot of luggage, then the cost will be more than 1200 euros for renting a van and 840 euros for both transfers. It is more profitable to order a transfer if you are going to the mountains for two weeks.
The road to Les Arcs along the serpentine road is difficult and dangerous, so if you are not a very experienced driver or just want to relax during the trip, enjoy wonderful moments in the stunning mountains of France, then it is better not to rent a car but to go with the help of a transfer.

Les Arcs is one of the best ski resorts in the French Alps - 210 km of various slopes, hotels for every taste. All levels of the resort are designed in a single Alpine style, and this gives Les Arcs a special charm and comfort. All four Arc-1600, Arc-1800, Arc-1950 and Arc-2000 form a single incomparable place for recreation. Each of them is different from each other.
Les Arcs 1600 is great for families, there are baby clubs for babies from 4 months, you will also find a school for older children. No cars are allowed here, so it's a very safe place.
Les Arcs 1800 - après-ski is very well developed.
Les Arcs 1950 is the ideal place for the most sophisticated tourists. All apartments here are also designed in the same style with the use of stone and wood, but differ in a special level. Almost every house has its own pool and jacuzzi, and high-end boutiques and expensive restaurants are also concentrated here.
Les Arcs 2000, the tallest of them. It is located on the Aiguille Rouge glacier, so you can ski here the maximum number of days a year. The slopes are mostly black and red, so it's best to ski here if you're a really experienced skier.
All resorts of Les Arcs are connected by an excellent system of lifts. Therefore, you can easily move between them.
