Les Arcs is an excellent place for winter sports. Any tourist can find a suitable slope at one of four stations (Les Arcs 1600, Les Arcs 1800, Les Arcs 1950, Les Arcs 2000) for alpine skiing or snowboarding.
One of the popular options to get to Les Arcs is to take a car from Lyon airport. The distance of this route is about 200-215 km, depending on which station you are going to. The usual time it takes for this trip is 3-3.5 hours. However, it can greatly increase to 6-8 hours on holidays and weekends.
There are three possible roads from Lyon airport to Les Arcs:
This is the fastest route, about 3 hours over 200 km. Most of it passes through toll roads. After leaving the hotel you take the A432 road and after 6.5 km turn onto the A43 and drive 75 km to the N201 towards Chambery. Next you will reach Albertville. Then take the N90, which after 30 km will take you to the town of Moutiers.
After passing which you will follow the N90 for another 27 km to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The remaining route runs along a complex serpentine road. Depending on the station you are going to, you will have to travel 13 km (to Arc 1600) or 25 km (to Arc 2000) through the mountains. This last mountain section of the road is very difficult, especially in snowfall.
If there are heavy traffic jams on the A43 autobahn near the city of Albertville, it is advisable to go through Grenobol on the A48. This route is about 260 km long and takes about 3.5 hours to travel along it. But sometimes it's faster than being stuck in traffic jams.
You leave the main route on the A48 34.5 km after leaving Lyon Airport. Drive about 108 km (past the city of Grenoble) and take the A43. Then the first route is completely repeated until Les Arc.
Very rarely do tourists travel on free roads. This is a very tedious and long road that goes through towns and villages. The total length of the route is 196 km, but the time you will spend will be at least 5 hours.
From Lyon airport you drive along country roads for about 115 km and before reaching Albertville take the N90, after which you repeat the main route.

The Savoy resort Les Arcs is called the gateway to the Paradiski ski area and the European birthplace of snowboarding. Today, the Les Arcs tracks are considered exemplary for off-piste skiing and conquering peaks on the board.
The resort is located on four heights: Les Arc 1600, Les Arc 1800, Les Arc 1950 and Les Arc 2000. The resort also includes a small mountain town of Bourg-seur-Maurice, which is connected by funicular with Arc-1600. The entire resort is designed in a single country style, but the Arc-1950 is distinguished by its special chic. This is the youngest and most prestigious station, with luxury residences, outdoor pools and top boutiques. All trails are interconnected by a single network of lifts, ski slopes and a road. There are no cars at the resorts themselves, there is one large pedestrian zone. As for skiing, the Arc-1800 skiing area is ideal for beginner skiers and snowboarders, here are the most gentle and safe slopes. Arc-1800 will appeal to anyone who comes to the resort to practice their skills on the board: there is an excellent fan pArc with fan boxes, halfpipe, pyramids and tracks with the possibility of boardercross.
And the Arc-2000 ski area was created for professionals. There is also a 180 meter halfpipe, the steep slopes of the Aiguille Rouge (3226 metres) and the Flying Kilometer, where skiing speed records can be set. If you take the lifts to the other side of the Aiguille Rouge, here you can have fun on the Grand Col and Arandelier slopes. And one more feature, thanks to which the resort is very famous - there is excellent night skiing. Each station has one illuminated track at night, and at Les Arcs 2000 you can ride a halfpipe at night. As for other types of entertainment, Les Arcs has restaurants, cafes and nightclubs, there are two skating rinks and an eight-lane bowling alley, and in the city of Bourg Saint Maurice you can swim in a large indoor pool and warm up in the sauna.

The most convenient way to get to the resort in the mountains is definitely a transfer! No transfers, no dragging luggage from one bus to another. Sat down and went right where you want! It's also much cheaper than a taxi. Drivers are excellent and professional! Operators are always very polite.
